Pawan Khera detained by Assam Police after being deplaned. 

On 23 February 2023, senior Congress chief Pawan Khera was detained by the Assam Police quickly after he was deplaned from a Raipur-bound flight at Delhi airport. This was performed after an FRI was lodged on the Haflong police station in opposition to him for making feedback on Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

When native media spoke to Mr Khera, he mentioned, that he was requested to get out of the plane as there was some bother together with his baggage. Congress has referred to as the entire incident very undemocratic and opposed this dictatorial behaviour.

Khera’s gaffe prompted an instantaneous FIR in Lucknow, in addition to harsh criticism from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. “Make no mistake — pathetic remarks by courtier Pawan Khera on PM’s father have the blessings of the highest ranges of Congress, which is stuffed with entitlement and disdain for an individual of humble origins being PM,” Sarma tweeted Monday. “India will always remember or overlook the Congressperson’s heinous remarks.”

“He’s being taken into the bus,” Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate mentioned, sharing pictures of Khera being escorted right into a bus. Randeep Surjewala will accompany him. The Assam Police are arresting them. Is that this not a dictatorship? Is that this the truth of your proper to free expression?” “You (Modi) made statements like ‘why don’t you utilize Nehru surname,’ and also you arrest our leaders,” she added. Shrinate made clear Khera’s remarks, saying, “It was a slip of the tongue, and he corrected himself.”
